Senior Night!

On Friday night, we honored our seniors.  Joe Bootsma (2 assists, 1 reb), Josh Caver (5 pts, 5 Rebs, 2 assists, 2 blocks, 1 steal), Mitch Evenhouse (5 pts, 1 assist, 1 reb, 1 block, 1 steal), Tyler LeGrand (4 pts), Bryan Leide (2 pts, 2 Rebs), Ben Lodewyk (3 pts, 3 assists, 2 Rebs, 2 blocks, 1 steal), and Jared Rhiner (4 Rebs) all played hard in their final game at Timothy Christian.  

There was a great crowd on hand and the red zone was out in full force. The Trojans faced conference champion Chicago Christian and came out with an inspiring first half but found themselves on the short end at the half down 27-21. The 3rd quarter saw the Knights gather momentum and the Trojans couldn't quite close the gap losing by a final score of 53-38.  

We want to thank all of our seniors and parents for all they have given to the Timothy Christian Boys Basketball program. It has been an honor and privilege being your coach. You will be missed.  

The Trojans will open up state tournament play on Monday vs St. Edwards at Aurora Christian High School. Game time is 6:00 pm. Please come out and support the Trojans!

Trojans defeat Walther

The Trojans defeated Walther Christian 56-49 on Tuesday at Walther.  Ben Lodewyk (16 pts, 3 Rebs), Jonny Strube (12 pts, 8 Rebs, 3 assists), Joey Davidson (9 pts, 9 Rebs, 3 assists) led the Trojans.

Trojans lose to Ridgewood

The Trojans lost a home contest to Ridgewood on Saturday night.  The Trojans played pretty good defense in the first half but so did the Rebels as the teams entered halftime with Ridgewood ahead 20-15. The second half was played fairly even but a 7-0 run from the visitors gave the cushion they needed. The Trojans struggled on the offensive side tonight and weren't able to get in much of a rhythm on this night and lost 53-43. The Trojans were led in scoring by Jonny Strube (16 pts, 2 Rebs), Mitch Evenhouse (16 pts, 6 Rebs, 2 assists), and Joey Davidson (9 pts, 5 Rebs). The Trojans will be on the road Tuesday vs Walther Christian and then home Saturday night vs Chicago Christian for senior night. Please come out and support the Trojans!

Trojans lose to Tigers

Tuesday night the Trojans travelled to Elmwood park for a conference game.  The Trojans lost a close contest 54-51.  The Trojans were led by Joey Davidson with 22 pts and 8 rebounds.  The Trojans will be home on Saturday night vs Ridgewood at 6:00 pm. Please come out and support the team.

Trojans win 2 this past week!

The Trojans had a very busy week this past week.  On Tuesday the Trojans traveled to nearby Westmont high school for a weeknight game.  The Trojans came out very flat in the first half and trailed the Sentinals 20-19 at half.  The 3rd quarter saw the Trojans take the lead but the 4th quarter belonged to Westmont and Timothy would head to overtime.  The first overtime was back and forth and the Trojans would fall behind by 4 pts.  The teams would trade possessions and at the buzzer of the first overtime Joey Davidson (17 pts, 5 rebs, 3 assists) would hit a 3 pter to send the game into the 2nd overtime.  During the 2nd overtime there would be exciting back and forth play as each team would take the lead.  Ultimately the Trojans would drop this contest 71-69.  Ben Lodewyk would finish with 23 pts, 6 assists, 6 steals, and Jonny Strube would contribute 16 pts and 5 rebs.  Josh Caver would chip in 5 pts and 5 rebs.

Friday night the Trojans continued conference play with a game at Guerin Prep.  The Trojans got off to a very good start both shooting the ball offensively and also on the defensive end.  The Trojans would lead at the end of the first quarter 20-5.  The 2nd and 3rd quarter would see Guerin close the distance but the Trojans would finish strong for a 46-27 victory.  Contributions from many on this night.  Leading scorer was Joey Davidson with 20 pts, 4 rebs and 2 assists.  Ben Lodewyk would finish in double figures with 10 pts and 3 rebs.  Mitch Evenhouse had a good floor game with 5 assists, 3 steals, 9 pts, and only 1 turnover. 

Saturday the Trojans traveled to Peoria Christian for a game and an overnight stay with the team.  A strong first half on both the offensive and defensive end put the Trojans ahead 31-19 at the half.  The Chargers would come storming back into the game and cut the lead to 1 pt with 9 seconds to play.  The Trojans missed a free throw opportunity and a long defended shot by Peoria Christian was off the mark at the buzzer giving the Trojans the 54-53 victory.  Strong games for everyone.  Good interior defense from Jared Rhiner and Josh Caver.  Double figure scoring from Joey Davidson (17), Ben Lodewyk (11), and Jonny Strube (10). Mitch Evenhouse chipped in with a good floor game to go with 8 pts as well.
