Trojans win opener at Lisle

Monday night was the opening of the Lisle Thanksgiving tournament. The Trojans began a little tight and cold from the field scoring only 4 points in the first 6:30 seconds. They ended the quarter on a 10-0 run turning a 4-8 deficit into a 14-8 lead at the quarter. They never looked back from that point winning the opening round game vs Montini by a score of 74-38.

There were good contributions from the entire team. The defensive effort in the 3rd quarter especially was very good as the Trojans held the Broncos to 4 pts. Leading the way for the Trojans while battling a sprained ankle was Reggie Greenwood (18pts, 6 rebs, 3 stls, & 4 assists), and Robert Stein (16 pts, 5 rebs.). Justin Peeples (8 pts, 3 stls, 2 assists), Mike Pizzello (5 rebs, 3 stls, 3 assists), and Mark Penczak (7 pts, 5 rebs,) had strong games as well.

Solid contributions came from others as well. Donte' Williams pulled in 4 rebounds to go along with 4 pts. Sophomore Matt Morrison saw his first varsity action and chipped in with 4 pts and 4 boards. Chad Vos (4 pts, 3 rebs.), Troy Ellens (4 pts), Nathan Boot (3 pts), Daihee Cho (4 pts,), Jon Penczak, and Nate Ziegler all saw time on the varsity floor and contributed to the victory.

Overall, it was a good beginning. It was good to get a game under our belts and keep processing areas where we need to keep improving. Thank you for your support!

Please keep coming out and supporting the Trojans.

The next game is Wednesday at Lisle at 7:30 pm vs Team Englewood.

Hopefully Greenwood will heal quickly.
