On Tuesday night the Trojans travelled to Palos Heights to face former Private School League rival Chicago Christian. The Knights were 5-0 heading into the game and have much athleticism and length. This gave the Trojans some problems but fought to a 17-17 tie at the half. The Second half saw the Trojans fall behind by a score of 41-34 with 5:15 left to play in the game. The Trojans were able to battle back and outscore the Knights 15-8. There were some crucial steals from Matt Robinson, Danny Leach and Mike Pizzello and also strong free throw shooting down the stretch as the Men in Red were able to secure a 49-46 victory.
The Trojans were led in scoring by Danny Leach (13 pts, 2 stls, 1 reb, 1 assist), Mark Penczak (11 pts, 4 rebs, 2 assists), and Chris Ridolphi (9 pts, 4 rebs, 2 stls, 1 assist). Mike Pizzello had another solid game registering 6 pts, 5 rebs, 4 stls, and 7 assists. The Trojans also received a monster boost on the boards from Matt Morrison grabbing 11 rebounds to go along with 6 pts and 1 assist). Rounding out the stat sheet were Matt Robinson (3 pts, 2 rebs, 1 stl, 2 assists), and Troy Ellens (1 pt).
The Trojans now stand at (4-2, 1-0) on the season. They travel to rival Illiana Christian this Friday night for a conference matchup. Game time is 7:00 pm.
