Trojans open season with a couple of victories

The Trojans have started their season with a full 5 game tournament at Lisle High School. On Monday night, the Trojans opened the season with a tourney contest with long-time rival Chicago Christian. The first half saw the Trojans play outstanding defense and shoot just under 50% from the field to go into halftime with a 38-10 lead. During the second half, Chicago Christian turned up the heat in the 3rd quarter and after a run by the Knights, the Trojans were able to weather the storm and prevail by a score of 55-31. Danny Leach (15 pts, 6 rebs, 5 assists), Tyler VanderBrug (12 pts, 6 stls, 2 rebs, 2 assists),Chris Ridolphi (8 pts, 7 rebs, 3 assists), Matt Robinson (4 pts, 6 rebs, 1 stl)Sophomore Connor VanderBrug (6 pts,8 rebs)Matt Morrison (4 pts,4 rebs)led the Trojans on this night. Although a bit too many turnovers on this night, it was a nice first win for the Trojans.

On Tuesday night, the Trojans played a very quick University High School team. The Trojans were a bit shorthanded as starter Matt Robinson was out with an injury. The first quarter was a back and forth affair with the Trojans up 12-10 after one. In the 2nd quarter, the Trojans rode a hot shooting Danny Leach to lead at the half 34-16. Once again a good start and a strong defensive half. The 3rd quarter played out a bit as the previous night as University High was able to generate pressure and energy to outscore the Trojans 16-4. At the end of 3, the Trojans held on to a slim 38-32 lead. The 4th quarter saw the Trojans re-group and make free throws down the stretch to win the game 57-45. The Trojans were led by Danny Leach (21 pts, 5 rebs, 2 assists), Tyler VanderBrug (13 pts, 6 rebs,2 assists), Chris Ridolphi (12 pts, 5 stls, 3 rebs, 3 assists), Luke Davidson (5 pts, 2 assists, 2 rebs), Connor VanderBrug (2pts, 3 rebs, 2 blocks, 2 stls, 2 assists), and Matt Morrison (4 pts, 4 rebs). The Trojans play on Wednesday at Lisle High School at 6:00 pm vs Perspectives Charter School. Please come out and support the Trojans.
