Trojans win at Chicago Christian

On Friday night, the Trojans traveled to traditional rival Chicago Christian for a non-conference battle. The first quarter saw Trojan big man Connor VanderBrug pick up two quick fouls. Both teams struggled getting any kind of offensive rhythm as the end of the quarter saw the Trojans up just 7-5. The 2nd quarter was back and forth as well with the end of the 2nd quarter ending with Timothy with a slim 18-17 lead.

During the 3rd quarter the teams would exchange runs as Chicago Christian would extend their lead to 28-22. A big 3 pt basket from Jimmy Larkin (5 pts, 2 assists, 1 reb) would pull the Trojans within 3 followed by a defensive stop and then a basket would allow Timothy to pull within 1. The Knights would then extend their lead by 6 and then the Trojans would battle back. Two late 3 pt baskets by Danny Leach would pull the Trojans even once again.

The 4th quarter began with a 3 pt basket by Connor VanderBrug. The Trojans moved the ball very well in the 4th quarter and were able to increase their lead to 10 and maintain that lead for a 53-43 victory.

The Trojans had many contributions on this evening. The Trojans were led this evening by Danny Leach (24 pts, 5 rebs, 3 assists, 2 stls,) and Connor VanderBrug (12 pts, 9 rebs, 1 stl, 2 blks). Defensively the entire team was pretty sound and were led by Khali Valrie (3 rebs, 3 assists, 2 stls, 1 blk) and Luke Davidson (4 pts, 3 rebs, 1 assist). Solid contributions this evening from Jimmy Larkin, George Thompson (6 pts, 4 reb), Wes Ditchfield (5 rebs, 3 assists), Matt Huizinga (2 pts, 3 rebs, 1 assist) and Justin Rhiner (1 reb).

The Trojans presently ride a 3 game winning streak and sit at 7-10 on the season and 1-5 in the Metro Suburban Conference. The Trojans will play 3 games this week. On Tuesday they will play home vs Aurora Christian at 7:30 pm. On Friday they will be home vs Glenbard South at 7:00 pm and on Saturday they will play at a shootout in Fulton Illinois vs. Stillman Valley at 4:00 pm. Please come out and support the Trojans.
