Leach hits game winner for TC victory!

The Trojans captured their regular season finale in thrilling fashion on Friday night. Senior Danny Leach sunk a game-winning three-pointer as time expired to beat the Ridgewood Rebels by a score of 48-46. The game was close throughout, as the Trojans led early, but trailed by two at the half and by nine points at the end of three quarters. TC kept closing the gap only to have the Rebels respond. With just over a minute to play, the Trojans trailed by five points. Danny Leach knocked down a 3-pointer to close the game to within two points. On the Rebel’s next offensive possession, they converted two free throws after Timothy had fouled. Trailing by four, TC brought the ball up once again and Leach knocked in another highly contested three-pointer to pull the Trojans within one point with 15 seconds to play. On the ensuing possession the Trojans fouled and Ridgewood failed to make good on the one-and-one. TC captured the rebound, brought it over halfcourt, and used their last timeout with 8.2 seconds to play and trailing by one. The last possession of the game put the ball in the hands of senior Danny Leach and as he came off the screen he was trapped, stepped through, and shot an off-balance three pointer that bounced off the front of the rim and into the basket for the TC victory.

Crucial to the Trojans cause on this night was 8 points and 16 rebounds from Luke Davidson. Connor Vanderbrug had 13 points and 7 rebounds. Vanderbrug also did a nice job of patrolling the lane on the defensive end for the Trojans and had a nice two-handed dunk to start of the second half. Danny Leach was high scorer for the game as he finished with 19 points and 4 rebounds. George Thompson and Wes Ditchfield contributed four and three rebounds respectively.

The Trojans finished the regular season with a record of 12-14(5-7 league) and will now travel to 3A regionals at Chicago Marshall. Their first game is Monday, February 25 at 5:00pm versus Chicago Wells. Should they win that game they will play again the next day versus Chicago Marshall at 5:00pm. What an exciting way to end the regular season! Thanks for coming out as supporting the Trojans! Please come out and support the Trojans as they begin state tournament play!

TC falls to Broncos, Defeat Bisons

On Tuesday, February 12th the Trojans honored their seniors and also hosted the Walther Lutheran Broncos. The Trojans came out sluggish in the first half as they struggled to find their shooting touch. Trailing by 18 at halftime the Trojans refused to give up, reducing the lead to 9 at the end of the third quarter and closing the gap to as few as two. In the end though, the Broncos pulled out the victory by a score of 57-50. Connor VanderBrug led the scoring with 20 points, along with 6 rebounds, and Danny Leach contributed 10 points and 4 assists, but the Trojans were unable to overcome a poor shooting night from the field.

To aid the Trojans cause Wes Ditchfield had 3 rebounds and 2 steals, Luke Davidson had 4 rebounds and 3 assists, and Justin Funchess had 7 points(3-4 FG). The lose dropped the Trojans record to 10-14(3-7 league). The coaching staff would like to thank the seniors for the contributions that they have made to the TC basketball progam!

On Friday night the Trojans played at Fenton High School and used a hot-start by junior Connor VanderBrug to take an 11 point lead only 4 minutes into the game. The Bison rallied closing the gap to 6 by the end of the quarter but they could draw it no closer the rest of the way. TC used a stingy defensive effort in the second quarter to go into halftime with a 10-point lead. In the second half TC extended the lead to 16 by the end of third quarter and came away with a 60-43 victory. For the game, Connor VanderBrug had 29 points on 6-10 shooting from beyond the arc. Khali Valrie contributed 4 rebounds and Luke Davidson pulled down 8 boards. Danny Leach had 17 points on 7-14 shooting, while also contributing 5 rebounds, 4 steals, and 4 assists. The win improved the Trojans record to 11-14(4-7 league).

The Trojans regular season finale is on Friday, Feb. 22 at Ridgewood High School at 7:00pm. On Monday, Feb. 25 the Trojans begin 3A regional with a matchup vs. Chicago Wells at 5:00pm at Chicago Marshall. Thank you for your support of TC athletics!

The Trojans attack was aided by 29 points(5-8 3pt FG) by Connor VanderBrug, 20 points by Danny Leach, and 10 points(4-6 FG) by Khali Valrie. With 3 minutes to play the Trojans had built their lead to 17 points and ended the game prevailing by 12 points.

On Friday night the Trojans traveled to Illiana for a conference matchup-up with the Vikings. Trojans drop hard fought contest vs R.B. on Homecoming night

Friday night at Timothy was Homecoming night. The gym was buzzing with excitement for all the Homecoming festivities. The Trojans had a tough task ahead of them as they were hosting conference leader Riverside Brookfield. The Trojans came out a bit flat and RB jumped to a 8-0 lead. The Trojans were able to settle down a bit and then shoot very well to get them back into the game trailing at the end of the 1st quarter 25-18. As the 2nd quarter came to a close Luke Davidson (7 pts, 6 assists, 6 rebs, 1 stl) outhustled everyone to an offensive rebound and a stickback shot to give the Trojans a lead at halftime 39-36. The 3rd quarter saw the Bulldogs regain control and at the end of the 3rd, the Trojans were down 47-39. A Justin Rhiner (6 pts, 3 rebs) made 3 pt basket pulled the Trojans even at 56. The score was again tied at 59. Riverside was able to gain control of the closely fought game and make free throws down the stretch to defeat the Trojans 72-63. Danny Leach (27 pts, 2 rebs, 2 stls, 2 blks), Connor VanderBrug (15 pts, 10 rebs, 3 stls), Khalie Valrie (5 pts, 4 rebs, 1 assist), Wes Ditchfield (2 rebs, 2 assists), Justin Funchess (1 assist, 1 reb), Jimmy Larkin (1 stl), and George Thompson (3 pts) all cracked the scoresheet. The game was a closely fought contest and other than some poor free throw shooting and poor execution at times, the Trojans played a pretty strong game on the evening. Thank you to the RED ZONE and parents for such a great atmosphere. The Trojans next game will be Tuesday night at Home vs Elmwood Park at 7:00 pm. Please come out and support the Trojans.
