Trojans drop hard fought contest vs R.B. on Homecoming night
Friday night at Timothy was Homecoming night. The gym was buzzing with excitement for all the Homecoming festivities. The Trojans had a tough task ahead of them as they were hosting conference leader Riverside Brookfield. The Trojans came out a bit flat and RB jumped to a 8-0 lead. The Trojans were able to settle down a bit and then shoot very well to get them back into the game trailing at the end of the 1st quarter 25-18. As the 2nd quarter came to a close Luke Davidson (7 pts, 6 assists, 6 rebs, 1 stl) outhustled everyone to an offensive rebound and a stickback shot to give the Trojans a lead at halftime 39-36. The 3rd quarter saw the Bulldogs regain control and at the end of the 3rd, the Trojans were down 47-39. A Justin Rhiner (6 pts, 3 rebs) made 3 pt basket pulled the Trojans even at 56. The score was again tied at 59. Riverside was able to gain control of the closely fought game and make free throws down the stretch to defeat the Trojans 72-63. Danny Leach (27 pts, 2 rebs, 2 stls, 2 blks), Connor VanderBrug (15 pts, 10 rebs, 3 stls), Khalie Valrie (5 pts, 4 rebs, 1 assist), Wes Ditchfield (2 rebs, 2 assists), Justin Funchess (1 assist, 1 reb), Jimmy Larkin (1 stl), and George Thompson (3 pts) all cracked the scoresheet. The game was a closely fought contest and other than some poor free throw shooting and poor execution at times, the Trojans played a pretty strong game on the evening. Thank you to the RED ZONE and parents for such a great atmosphere. The Trojans next game will be Tuesday night at Home vs Elmwood Park at 7:00 pm. Please come out and support the Trojans.
