TC loses in 3A Regional Final

It was a busy week for the Trojans. Capturing a victory Monday sent them to the 3A regional semifinal to play Chicago(Clemente). The Trojans used some hot outside shooting from Ben Lodewyk and some great defensive play to take a 26-18 lead into halftime. The Trojans were able to extend their lead to 12 points at the end of the third quarter and came away with a 53-41 victory. The Trojans were led in scoring by Connor VanderBrug with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Ben Lodewyk had 17 points on 5-9 shooting. Joe Bishop contributed 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists and Wes Ditchfield had 6 points and 3 rebounds. The win advanced the Trojans to the 3A regional final versus top seeded St. Joseph.

On Friday Night the Trojans played St. Joseph in the 3A regional final. It was a back and forth first half with the Trojans up early and then St. Joseph coming back to take a 1 point lead at halftime. The Trojans came out strong early in the second half going up by a score of 39-32 on a Connor VanderBrug 3 pointer. The Chargers then made a run to close the third quarter and took a 1 point lead into the fourth quarter. St. Josephs then extended that lead to a score of 49-40 before a Joe Bishop basket. The Trojans fought hard but were unable to convert on a couple of opportunities late in the game to close the gap and St. Josephs ended up winning by a score of 51-42. The lose marked the end of the season for the Trojans. TC ended the year with an 18-10 record and a 9-3 conference record.

For the game Connor VanderBrug led the Trojans with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Justin Rhiner had as solid floor game with 6 points and 11 rebounds and Wes Ditchfield had 5 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. Thanks to all those who came out to support the Trojans on Friday night. This team really came together this year! Thank you seniors Logan Bryne, Khali Valrie, Connor VanderBrug, Wes Ditchfield, and Justin Rhiner for your contributions to the TC basketball program... you guys will be missed!
