Trojans drop opener at Lisle

The Timothy Christian Trojans started their season on Tuesday night at the Lisle Thanksgiving tournament vs. Chicago Perspectives. They lost a hard fought contest 58-51. The first quarter saw both teams trading some early baskets but at the quarter Timothy was down 13-8. During the 2nd quarter the Trojans were able to get in a nice rhythm and outscore Perspectives 17-10 to lead at the half 25-23. During the 2nd half both teams once again traded possessions and Perspectives was up 43-39 going into the final stanza. During the 4th quarter, the Trojans were able to battle back and finally take the lead with 1:53 to play 51-50 when Ben Lodewyk hit a 3 from the top of the key. The lead was short lived as a Perspectives player was fouled going to the basket. He made the first free throw and then they got possession on a rebound off the missed 2nd free throw and were able to score to take the lead. Timothy had a couple of opportunities down the stretch but were not able to capitalize.
The Trojans were led by Robert McGivney (14 pts, 8 rebs, 2 blks, 2 stls), Ben Lodewyk (14 pts, 8 rebs, 2 stls), Joe Bishop (5 pts, 5 assists, 4 rebs,3 stls), Riley Chapman (6 pts, 2 rebs,) and Joe Davidson (9 pts, 3 rebs). Mitch Evenhouse (1 reb, 1 assist), provided a strong energy boost off the bench. Josh Caver (1 pt, 3 assists,) and Jared Rhiner (2 pts, 1 reb) also got their first taste of varsity action. It was a tough opening night loss but the Trojans will continue to build off this game as they continue to get better this season. The next game is Friday night at Lisle at 6:00 pm. Please come out and support the Trojans.
