On Saturday, the Trojans completed their first round of conference play at Illiana Christian. This game was a make-up game from the cancellation earlier because of weather. The game was a tightly played contest throughout. Illiana had the early lead as the Trojans tried to find some rhythm on the offensive end. The Trojans gathered themselves and took a small lead into halftime. The game remained close throughout. Timothy was able to go on a small run and increase the lead in the 4th quarter. The Vikings would not go away quietly as they started making 3 pt shots and the Trojans were able to hit enough free throws down the stretch to preserve the victory 53-47.
The Trojans were led by Connor VanderBrug (20 pts, 9 rebs, 1 assist) and Wes Ditchfield (8 rebs, 5 pts, 3 steals, 2 assists, 1 block). Joe Bishop had a solid game as well contributing 9 pts, 5 rebs, 3 assists, and 7 steals and Ben Lodewyk (11 pts) knocked down some key shots.
The Trojans showed a strong resolve to win on the road at Illiana. The Trojans have finished the first half of Metro Suburban conference play with a 5-1 record and 10-5 overall.
The Trojans next game will be Saturday night Jan. 25 at Immaculate Conception at 8:15 pm. Please come out and support the Trojans.
