Timothy Christian Metro Suburban Conference Co-Champs!!

On Tuesday the Trojans traveled to Ridgewood for their last conference game of the season. The Trojans battled the Rebels from Ridgewood and were down by 1 pt at the half. During the 3rd quarter the Trojans were able to find a good rhythm and take a lead of 10 pts. That lead would not last as the Rebels would storm back and close the lead to 1 pt with 1:30 remaining in the game. Mitch Evenhouse (8 pts, 1 assist, 1 reb) drained a big 3 pt shot to increase the lead to 4 and the Trojans were able to hit free throws to secure the victory 57-50.

Ben Lodewyk (16 pts, 5 rebs, 4 assists, 4 steals) Joey Davidson (15 pts, 4 rebs, 1 assist), Joe Bishop (7 pts, 5 assists, 3 rebs, 2 stls), Rob McGivney (9 pts, 6 rebs, 2 assists, 3 blocks), and Riley Chapman (2 pts, 2 rebs) all rounded out the stat sheet on the night.

Timothy Christian joined the Metro Suburban Conference in 2009-10 season and the last conference championship was in 2008-09 in the last year of the Private School League Conference. With the victory Tuesday, the Trojans were able to secure the first ever Metro Suburban Boys basketball conference championship in the East Division. This is the first year for the 2 divisions in the conference and they were able to win all their second half games to share the championship with Illiana Christian.

Congratulations to the team who have believed in each other and have worked very hard to battle on the road with some tough victories. It is a well-deserved co-conference championship.

The Trojans finished the regular season at 14-11 and 10-2 in conference.

The Regional tournament will be held at Timothy Christian next week with the following schedule:

Trojans grab victory at Chicago Christian

On Friday night the Trojans traveled to Palos Heights to face the Knights from Chicago Christian for a very important conference game.  Both teams were tied at the top of the conference standings with Illiana Christian.  The atmosphere was electric as fans from both teams were out in full force for an action packed game.

The game didn't disappoint as the teams provided intensity and battled back and forth.  At the half, the Trojans trailed by one.  During the 3rd quarter the Knights were able to secure a lead of 7 points.  The Trojans would battle back and were down by 1 heading into the 4th quarter.  During the 4th quarter, the Trojans were able to secure and advance their lead and hold on down the stretch for a 43-35 victory.

The Trojans were led by Robert McGivney with 16 pts, 11 Rebs, 3 blocks, and 2 steals.  Joe Bishop had a solid all around game with 8 pts, 8 Rebs, 4 steals, and 4 assists. Riley Chapman (9pts 4 Rebs), Ben Lodewyk (7 pts, 4 assists, 2 res), Joey Davidson (3 pts, 4 Rebs), and strong play off the bench from Mitch Evenhouse and Josh Caver contributed to the win as well as the energy received from the entire team.  

The Trojans are presently tied for 1st in conference play with 1 game remaining.  We are 13-11 and 9-2 in conference.  The next game is Tuesday night at Ridgewood at 7:00 pm.  Thank you to all the fans for the support. It is very much appreciated.  

Boys basketball program serves at Feed my Starving Children

The Boys basketball program spent Wednesday night Feb. 18 serving at the Feed my starving children facility.

“Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding God’s children hungry in body and spirit. The approach is simple: children and adults hand-pack meals specifically formulated for malnourished children, and we ship these meals to nearly 70 countries around the world.”

The guys packed a total of 104 boxes of food which is enough to feed 61 people for a year. 

Thank you Coach Huizinga for organizing this wonderful opportunity. 

Thank you also to our players for giving time to serve such a worthwhile cause.

Trojans victorious on Senior night vs Walther Christian

Tuesday night saw the Trojans play their final regular season home game vs Walther Christian. This was Senior night as the Trojans had 9 seniors and parents to honor on the evening. The nerves of the night were a bit evident early as the Trojans took a little time to find their flow. As they settled in the Trojans were able to come away with a 49-20 victory on the evening.

The players honored were Joe Bishop, Riley Chapman, Kollin Kaczynski, Brett Kwasigroch, Devin May, and Robert McGivney. We also honored our managers of Luke Wang, Jack Jeong, and 4 year varsity manager Erick Weisto. Thank you gentlemen for all your contributions to our basketball program. You will definitely be missed.

The Trojans are next in action on Friday night at Chicago Christian at 7:00 pm. Please come out and support the Team in this important conference battle.

Trojans drop close contest to Aurora Christian

On Friday night the Trojans hosted a non-conference game to a very good Aurora Christian team.  The game was a tightly fought contest throughout with neither team able to make a push to get a comfortable lead.  The Trojans found themselves down by 1 at the half.  

The Eagles made a big push in the middle of the 3rd to take their biggest lead at 38-32.  The Trojans would find themselves fighting back and taking the lead on a pair of 3's by Riley Chapman (23 pts, 2 Rebs).  Aurora would answer and regain the lead. 

In the end, the Trojans would come up a bit short and by a score of 49-47. Ben Lodewyk (10 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks, 2 steals, and 7pts), Robert McGivney (8 pts, 6 Rebs, 3 assists), Joey Davidson (6pts,2 Rebs, 3 stls, 2 assists), Joe Bishop 2 assists, 1 steal), Mitch Evenhouse (3steals, 1 assist, 1reb, 2 pts), and Josh Caver (2 Rebs) rounded out the stat page on the evening.

Trojans defeat Elmwood Park to remain tied for 1st place in conference

On Tuesday night the Trojans were victorious vs Elmwood Park by a score of 46-36. On the heels of some very good games with electric crowds, the Trojans came out on Tuesday night and played a little flat. They fought through the ups and downs that go with this type of game against a formidable opponent in Elmwood Park and were able to come out with the victory. Joe Bishop led the way with 13 pts and 7 rebs and 7 steals. Rob McGivney 11 pts, 6 rebs and Ben Lodewyk 11 pts, 4 rebs, 3 assists also reached double figures in the scoring column.

With the win, the Trojans remained tied for first place in the eastern division of the Metro Suburban conference with a record of 7-2 and 11-10 overall. The Trojans are in action on Friday night at Timothy for a non-conference game vs Aurora Christian at 7:30 pm. Please come out and support the Trojans.

Home victory over Guerin

On Friday night the Trojans faced the gators from Guerin Prep.  The Trojans kept up their improved play and won 61-30.  The team had 13 assists on the night and shot very well from the field.  Once again, the Trojans showed strong balance in the victory.  Riley Chapman (19 pts) had the hot hand early hitting 5 3pt shots. Robert McGivney had another solid game finishing with 18 pts, 12 res, 3 blocks, 2 assists.  Ben Lodewyk also had a double double with 11 pts and 10 rebounds.  The Trojans continued their run with solid play on the defensive end as well.

With the victory, the Trojans have moved into a 3 way tie for the conference lead in the Metro-suburban east division.  The Trojans are now 10-10 overall and 6-2 in conference play.

The Trojans will play two home games this week.  Tuesday night vs Elmwood Park at 7:30 for another conference game and a non-conference game on Friday night at 7:30 vs Aurora Christian.  Please come out and support the Trojans.
