On Friday the Trojans continued play at the Lisle Thanksgiving tournament vs host Lisle High School. The game featured a spirited battle with both teams playing aggressive defense. At the end of the half the Trojans were down 20-19. The 3rd quarter also was a close contest and at the end of the 3rd the Lisle Lions led 36-34. During the 4th quarter, the Trojans Joey Davidson connected on a pair of 3 pt shots and the team would close out the quarter with a 53-41 victory. The Trojans were led in scoring by Joey Davidson (25 pts, 5 rebs, 3 assists). Jonny Strube came off the bench and had a very solid game with 15 pts, 7 rebs, and 2 assists.
On Saturday the Trojans faced the Maroons from University High. The Trojans would face a tough task with the tourney leading Maroons who had the height and quickness on the Trojans. The Trojans were up to the task on this evening as Josh Caver and Jared Rhiner gave strong post defensive efforts and the team played the Maroons even and led at the half 19-15. During the 3rd quarter University would connect on 4 3 pt shots which would give them the lead 36-31 heading into the 4th quarter. The Trojans Joey Davidson (11 pts) would connect on a 3 pt shot to tie the game 45-45. On the next trip down, the Trojans would be called for a foul with 8 seconds to play and the Maroons connected on both free throws. The Trojans came down and missed a shot at the buzzer and fell 47-45. The Trojans were led by Ben Lodewyk (22 pts) on the evening. Ben Lodewyk was also named to the All-tournament team so congratulations to Ben.
The Trojans will begin conference play this week with a game on Friday at Illiana Christian at 7:30 pm. They will then open their home schedule with a contest vs Walther Christian on Saturday at 7:30 pm. Please come out and support the Trojans!
