Trojans open with split at Lisle Thanksgiving tournament

The Trojans opened play on Tuesday night at the Lisle Thanksgiving Tournament vs Perpectives Charter.  The Trojans got off to a slow start vs a very athletic Perspectives team and trailed at the end of the first quarter 21-10.  They would battle back and cut the deficit to 6 pts at the half trailing 29-23.  During the 3rd quarter the Trojans would be outscored 18-12 and would have to battle back in the 4th quarter.  The lead was down to 5 pts and then Perspectives went on a final run ending the hopes of a opening night victory.  The Trojans lost by a score of 64-48.  This was a rough shooting night as shots would not fall on this evening.  The Trojans were led in scoring by Ben Lodewyk (20 pts, 6 rebs, 2 assists) and Joey Davidson (15 pts, 5 rebs).  A solid night of play from Jared Rhiner       ( 9pts, 7 rebs) and Josh Caver (2 pts, 7 rebs), Mitch Evenhouse had 5 assists on the evening.

On Wednesday night the Trojans got their first victory of the season vs Hinckley Big Rock by a score of 67-44.  Another somewhat slow start but the Trojans were still up after one quarter 10-6.  The Trojans got a lift with a strong 2nd quarter as they seemed to find their rhythm and led at the half 31-14.  The 2nd half saw the Trojans continue to play good defense and also finish up with a strong team game on the evening.  All 12 players played on this night and all contributed to the victory.  Ben Lodewyk (20 pts, 6 rebs, 6 assists), Joey Davidson (12 pts, 5 rebs, 2 assists), Jonny Strube (9 pts, 6 rebs) and Trayvon Williams (10 pts, 4 rebs) all had strong efforts on the night.  Josh Caver (5 pts, 3 rebs, 1 assist), Mitch Evenhouse (2 pts, 1 reb), Bryan Leide (2 pts, 1 reb), Jared Rhiner (2 pts, 3 rebs, 1 assist), Joe Bootsma (3 rebs, 1 assist), Nick Tameling (3 pts, 6 rebs), Tyler LeGrand (2 pts, 1 reb), and Jon Hoekstra all contributed to the victory.
