Trojans open state tournament with exciting victory!

Monday night the 7th seeded Trojans opened up Regional play at Aurora Christian vs 6th seed St. Edwards.  The game would be mostly a defensive battle as Trojans got off to decent start leading at the half 21-17.  The 3rd quarter saw St. Eds take control and have the lead 31-30 heading in to the 4th quarter.  The game would end tied at the end of regulation and head in to overtime.

During the overtime period, St. Eds would build a 4 pt lead with about 30 seconds to play. Joey Davidson (16 pts, 5 rebs) would hit a crucial 3 pt basket to bring the team within 1.  A missed free throw by St Eds would give the Trojans the ball with a final possession.  A couple of fouls to take by St. Eds brought the game to a final possession with 5 seconds left. Senior Ben Lodewyk (10 pts, 7 Rebs, 4 assist) would hit a contested 15 ft shot at the elbow at the buzzer for the win. Ty Merrick had 7 rebounds and Jonny Strube had 10 pts as well.

The Trojans will play Wednesday vs top seed Aurora Christian at 6:00 pm at Aurora Christian.
