The Trojans opened up the 2016-17 season with games at the Lisle Thanksgiving Tournament. Monday night the Trojans opened up against Westmont and came away with a 69-54 victory. Depth was evident on the evening as many made strong contributions on the evening. The Trojans were led by Joey Davidson (17 pts, 6 assists, 6 rebounds) and Jonny Strube (14 pts - 4/5 on 3 pt attempts, 9 rebs), and Brandon Orange (11 pts, 3 assists, 8 rebounds). Trayvon Williams (8 pts, 2 rebs), Ty Merrick (6 pts, 6 rebs, 3 assists) Jimmy Allen (7 pts, 4 rebs), Michael Thomas (4 pts, 2 rebs), Jon Hoekstra (2 pts), Nick Huisman (2 rebs) and Nick Tameling (2 rebs) all played well and cracked the scoring sheet.
On Wednesday night the Trojans faced Yorkville Christian and came away with a 75-26 victory. All Trojans made contributions on this night. Nick Tameling (7 pts, 5 rebs, 2 assists), Shakir Tharpe (4 pts, 9 rebs), Graham Loughead (6 pts, 1 reb), Jon Hoekstra (7 pts, 1 assist), Mike Thomas (10 pts, 3 rebs, 1 assist), Trayvon Williams (2 pts, 2 assists, 1 reb) Jonny Strube (6 rebs, 3 assists), Nick Huisman (2 pts, 5 rebs, 1 assist), Brandon Orange (2 pts, 5 rebs, 1 assist), Jimmy Allen (7 pts, 2 assists, 2 rebs), Ty Merrick (6 pts, 5 rebs, 2 assists), and Joey Davidson (16 pts, 4 assists, 7 rebs) all dented the stat sheet on the night.
