Trojans take to the road

It seems like it has been a long time since TC has had the opportunity to enjoy a home game and this weekend was no exception. On Friday Night, TC traveled to Glenbard South to play the Raiders. It was a back and forth first half as the Trojans stayed in the game using the 3-pt shot and went into halftime with a one-point lead. The second half was a different story as TC came out sluggish. The Raiders used this to their advantage as they built up a double-digit lead and ended up winning by 16 points as TC was forced to foul in the last minutes to keep the game close and the Trojans ended up falling by a score of 40-56.

For the game, The Trojans managed only 7 free throws and ultimately relied on the 3-pt shot too heavily. Justin Rhiner and Connor VanderBrug each had 14 points for the Trojans. Joe Bishop contributed 5 rebounds to go along with 4 points and 4 steals. Ben Lodweyk handed out 4 assists and came up with two steals. The lose dropped the Trojans record to 10-7(5-2 Conference).

On Saturday, February 1 the Trojans traveled to Fulton, IL to participate in the Eric Ottens Memorial Shootout to play Clinton(IA). It was a very emotional and exciting game and it certainly was competitive from the beginning. Clinton got out of the gate quickly going ahead by a score of 14-6 early. TC would fight back and would lead for much of the game, however, in the final minutes foul troubles would leave the Trojans without starters Wes Ditchfield, Connor VanderBrug, Justin Rhiner, and Ben Lodewyk. TC had the ball trailing by two with only seconds to play when Robert McGivney made a long two to push the game to Overtime. In the overtime frame Clinton had just a little too much as the Trojans ended up losing by a score of 56-62.

Connor VanderBrug led the Trojans with 23 points to go along with 6 rebounds and two blocks before fouling out. Wes Ditchfield had a tremendous floor-game with 6 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 3 assists. Ben Lodewyk had 10 points, 7 rbeonds, and 4 assists. Robert McGivney grabbed 5 rebounds and Joe Bishop chipped in 3 rebounds and 2 steals. After losing the Trojans recorded fell to 10-8(5-2 conference). The Trojans next game is a conference game at Riverside-Brookfield at 7pm on Friday, February 7. Thanks to all who braved the weather to come out to Fulton!
