Trojans earn conference victory at Illiana Christian

Friday night the Trojans traveled to Illiana Christian for the beginning of the 2nd half of conference play. Illiana had a tremendous crowd out to support their team and add to the atmosphere of homecoming. The gym was an electric atmosphere to experience a high school basketball game. The game was a good battle right from the beginning Illiana was a little better and built a 10 point lead near the end of the 2nd quarter. The Trojans battled back and showed their resiliency and cut their lead to 38-35 at the half. During the 2nd half both teams would battle back and forth exchanging leads. The Trojans shot a very good 77% from the free throw line to earn the victory 62-57 and give the Vikings from Illiana their first conference loss of the season.

Timothy had contributions from many on this night. Actually the balance they achieved was exceptional and contributed greatly to the victory. The energy from the fans and the bench provided the boost the guys needed in such a crazy atmosphere. Riley Chapman (17 pts, 9-9 FT) had a very strong game. Rob McGivney was a force on the boards with 12 rebounds to go along with 11 pts and 3 assists. Mitch Evenhouse 5 pts, 2 assists played an outstanding defensive game. Joey Davidson (10 pts and 3 reb) and Ben Lodewyk (12 pts, 3 rebs) also reached double figures in scoring and played key roles. Joe Bishop had a super floor game with 7 pts, 4 assists, and 6 rebounds. Jared Rhiner provided a spark off the bench with solid defense and 3 rebounds.

This was a wonderful TEAM victory. Thank you to all the fans who came out to support. The Trojans are now 9-10 on the season and 5-2 in the Metro Suburban Conference. They are currently in 2nd place in the conference. The next game is Friday Feb. 6 at home vs. Guerin Prep.
