Busy week for Trojans - Big conference victory vs Illiana Christian

The Trojans were very busy last week.  On Tuesday they hosted the Wheaton Academy Warriors.  the first half saw the game back and forth with the Trojans taking a 26-21 lead at the half.  During the second half, the Warriors began to take control and lead at the end of the 3rd quarter 36-34.  Final score of the game was 53-45 as the Trojans dropped a close contest.  Joey Davidson (14 pts, 4 rebounds) and Ben Lodewyk (12 pts, 7 rebs, 3 assists, 2 steals) led the Trojans.  Mitch Evenhouse also had a good game with 6 pts, 6 steals, 2 rebs, and 2 assists.

Friday night saw the Trojans host Illiana Christian.  Illina had beat the Trojans at their place quite handily the first time around.  On this night, the Trojans would come out with great energy in front of a packed house and it would be the Vikings who would struggle shooting from the field.  This game was a complete Team victory as each player contributed both on and off the floor.  Scoring honors would be shared by Ben Lodewyk (16 pts, 4 rebs, 2 assists,) and Jonny Strube (16 pts, 4 rebs, 2 assists, 1 steal).  Strube came off the bench to hit some crucial 3 pt shots.  He finished 5-7 on 3pters on the evening.  Joey Davidson contributed 11 pts, 5 rebs, 2 assists, and 2 steals.  Trayvon Williams had a strong game with 7 pts, 5 rebs, 2 steals, and 2 assists.  Josh Caver had a solid evening as well with 7 pts, 2 assists, 1 reb, and overall good net presence.  The game was led by the Trojans as they jumped out to a lead.  Illiana would tie the game at the buzzer or regulation on a 3 pt shot.  The Vikings took the lead into overtime with the first score. The Trojans would answer with a Strube 3 pt basket.  The Trojans would finish the night with a 57-52 victory.

On Saturday the Trojans traveled to Fulton Illinois to take part in the Eric Ottens Shootout.  The Trojans would play a pretty good Clinton Iowa team.  The legs and energy were not present on this night as the Trojans struggled both offensively and defensively and dropped a 57-36 decision.  Joey Davidson 11 pts and Mitch Evenhouse 10 pts would lead the Trojans in scoring.

The Trojans have another busy week as they play on the road Tuesday at Westmont (7:30 pm), and Friday at Guerin Prep (7:00 pm) and Saturday at Peoria Christian (6:30 pm).

Trojans lose close contest to IC

On Friday night the Trojans traveled to Elmhurst rival Immaculate Conception. The first quarter saw both teams open the game with 3 pt baskets.  IC was able to win the quarter 21-16.  The final 3 quarters would be played pretty evenly.  The Trojans fell behind by 12 late in the 3rd quarter but would battle back to tie the score at 55. The Trojans would briefly take the lead on a 3 pt basket by Jonny Strube (15 pts, 4 assists, 2 steals) but IC would answer with a 3 of their own and hold on for a 67-60 victory.  The Trojans Trayvon Williams (16 pts, 5 Rebs, 2 assists, 3 stls) and Joey Davidson (12 pts, 1 reb) would both score in double figures.  Contributions on the scoresheet also came from Ben Lodewyk (5 pts, 4 assists, 4 stls, 3 Rebs, 2 blocks), Mitch Evenhouse (8 pts, 4 assists, 2 steals, 1 reb), Jared Rhiner (2 pts, 3 assists, 3 Rebs), and Josh Caver (2 pts, 2 Rebs). 

The Trojans have a busy week with home games on Tuesday vs Wheaton Academy and Friday vs Illiana Christian. Game times are at 7:30 pm.  On Saturday, the Trojans will travel to a shootout in Fulton, Illinois. They will face Clinton, Iowa at 4:00 pm.  Please keep coming out to support the Trojans!

Trojans lose to Glenbard South

On Wednesday night the Trojans hosted the Raiders from Glenbard South. Glenbard South used their size and strength to dominate the boards and raced out to a 18-2 lead at the quarter. The Trojans never recovered losing by a score of 66-41. Bryan Leide was the Trojans leading scorer as he came off the bench to hit 4 3 pt shots and finished with 14 pts. The Trojans are back in action on Friday night at Immaculate Conception at 7:30

Trojans drop contest at Ridgewood

The Trojans were back in action on Friday for the first time since Dec. 31.  The Trojans traveled to Ridgewood and lost the conference game 54-45. The game was a close contest throughout. Late in the 4th quarter, the Rebels hit a couple big 3 pt shots and held on for the victory.  The Trojans were led in scoring by Joey Davidson (20 pts, 5rebs) and Trayvon Williams (10 pts, 7 Rebs). Rebounding was by committee as Jonny Strube (8 Rebs, 6 pts), Josh Caver (8rebs, 2 assists, 2pts), Mitch Evenhouse (4 Rebs, 7 pts), Jared Rhiner (4rebs, 2 assists), and Joe Bootsma (1 reb) all collected boards.  The Trojans struggled taking care of the basketball on this night and the turnovers were hard to overcome.  The Trojans have a busy schedule coming up with many games.  This week, they play a home game on Wednesday at 7:30 vs Glenbard South and on the road Friday vs IC Catholic Prep at 7:30.
