The Trojans were very busy last week. On Tuesday they hosted the Wheaton Academy Warriors. the first half saw the game back and forth with the Trojans taking a 26-21 lead at the half. During the second half, the Warriors began to take control and lead at the end of the 3rd quarter 36-34. Final score of the game was 53-45 as the Trojans dropped a close contest. Joey Davidson (14 pts, 4 rebounds) and Ben Lodewyk (12 pts, 7 rebs, 3 assists, 2 steals) led the Trojans. Mitch Evenhouse also had a good game with 6 pts, 6 steals, 2 rebs, and 2 assists.
Friday night saw the Trojans host Illiana Christian. Illina had beat the Trojans at their place quite handily the first time around. On this night, the Trojans would come out with great energy in front of a packed house and it would be the Vikings who would struggle shooting from the field. This game was a complete Team victory as each player contributed both on and off the floor. Scoring honors would be shared by Ben Lodewyk (16 pts, 4 rebs, 2 assists,) and Jonny Strube (16 pts, 4 rebs, 2 assists, 1 steal). Strube came off the bench to hit some crucial 3 pt shots. He finished 5-7 on 3pters on the evening. Joey Davidson contributed 11 pts, 5 rebs, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Trayvon Williams had a strong game with 7 pts, 5 rebs, 2 steals, and 2 assists. Josh Caver had a solid evening as well with 7 pts, 2 assists, 1 reb, and overall good net presence. The game was led by the Trojans as they jumped out to a lead. Illiana would tie the game at the buzzer or regulation on a 3 pt shot. The Vikings took the lead into overtime with the first score. The Trojans would answer with a Strube 3 pt basket. The Trojans would finish the night with a 57-52 victory.
On Saturday the Trojans traveled to Fulton Illinois to take part in the Eric Ottens Shootout. The Trojans would play a pretty good Clinton Iowa team. The legs and energy were not present on this night as the Trojans struggled both offensively and defensively and dropped a 57-36 decision. Joey Davidson 11 pts and Mitch Evenhouse 10 pts would lead the Trojans in scoring.
The Trojans have another busy week as they play on the road Tuesday at Westmont (7:30 pm), and Friday at Guerin Prep (7:00 pm) and Saturday at Peoria Christian (6:30 pm).
