Homecoming victory for Trojans !!

Friday night was Homecoming at Timothy and there was a very electric atmosphere in the Timothy Christian gymnasium. Besides all the homecoming festivities, the Red Zone had called this a Silent night for the fans. The first part of the game was played in a eerily quiet gym as the teams played even. When the Trojans scored their 10th point on a Chad Vos layup, the gym erupted with cheers and they continued the rest of the evening. The game was a hard fought contest and some very hot shooting by Ridgewood gave the Rebels the lead at the half 33-28. The Trojans came out very flat in the 3rd quarter and Ridgewood took advantage to build a 12 pt lead in the middle of the third quarter. It was then that the bench came to the rescue. Tyler VanderBrug (2-3's, 2 rebs, 1 assist), Troy Ellens (7pts, 3 rebs, 1 assist), Nathan Ziegler (2 assists, 1 reb), Matt Robinson (1 reb, 1 assist), and Chad Vos (6 pts, 1 reb, 1 assist) provided the spark that was missing. Their inspired play and sharp shooting (3-3's) during the end of the 3rd quarter provided a 11-1 run to close the quarter with the Trojans trailing 42-44. The energy and execution carried over as the Trojans were able to take the lead in the fourth quarter and finish the night with a 63-56 victory. Matt Morrison (4pts, 1 reb, 1 assist), Chris Ridolphi (2 pts, 3 rebs, 2 assists, 1 stl), Danny Leach (10 pts, 5 rebs, 2 assists, 1 block), Mike Pizzello (15 pts, 5 rebs, 3 stls, 2 assists), and Mark Penczak (13 pts, 6 assists, 5 rebs) all found themselves on the stat sheet on the night as well. The coaching staff was very proud of the team effort for the victory. For the players to come off the bench and provide such a lift was a testament to not only their physical talents but also their mental toughness to be ready to contribute in such a strong way for the team. The team then showed their togetherness to finish strong in the fourth quarter to come away with the hard fought victory. The Trojans move to 14-8 on the season and are now tied for 3rd place in the conference with a 5-4 record. This week will be a busy week as the Trojans have Senior night on Tuesday night vs. Elmwood Park with a 7:00 pm start. They then will play an away game on Friday at Fenton at 7:00 pm and a make up game which will be played on Saturday at Glenbard South at 4:30 pm. Please keep coming out and supporting the Trojans.
