Trojans end regular season by splitting games

This past weekend, the Trojans finished off the regular season. On Friday night, the Trojans traveled to Fenton High School to face the Bison. On this night, the Bison were able to control the game. The Trojans played a decent defensive game but offensively they could not get anything going all evening. Fenton led at the half 23-12. The Trojans made a run in the second half trying to increase the tempo of the game and get things going offensively. They were able to cut it to two points at one point but could not get the lead. Fenton held on down the stretch and the Trojans lost 50-36. Mike Pizzello (13 pts) was the only player to get into double figures on the night. The Trojans wanted to quickly forget this game and move on to the next day to play Glenbard South.
On Saturday, the Trojans bounced back nicely by closing the regular season with a hard fought victory vs. Glenbard South 59-58. The Trojans played a close contest throughout and finally took the lead at the end of the 3rd quarter 39-36. A back and forth 4th quarter saw the teams trade baskets. The score was tied with 3:20 to play. The Trojans were able to hold on to close out the victory 59-58. This night saw Danny Leach (17pts, 3 rebs, 3 stls, 2 assists), Chris Ridolphi (14 pts, 3 rebs, 1 assist), Mark Penczak (9 pts, 2 rebs, 4 assists, 3 stls), Matt Morrison (6 pts, 4 rebs, 1 stl, 1 assist), Nathan Boot (3 rebs, 1 stl) all have strong games. The entire team put in a strong defensive effort as well. Of particular note were Mike Pizzello (13 pts, 7 rebs, 3 assists, 2 stls) and Chad Vos (2 rebs, 1 stl, 1 assist) who were charged with guarding Glenbard South's best player and held him to 9 pts on the night.
The Trojans finished the season 16-9 and 7-5 on the season. Regionals will begin this week with the Trojans travelling to Immaculate Conception to play a game at 8:10 pm against the winner of the IC - Chicago Talent Development game. Please come out and support the Trojans.
